A beautiful, tranquil morning unfolds at Monument Valley in Navajo Tribal Park during the enchanting blue hour before sunrise. The iconic silhouettes of the East, West Mittens, and Merrick Butte rise dramatically against the subtle pre-dawn sky with bold clouds.

Monument Valley was our last stop on our trip through Utah and Arizona. It was our first time there. We stayed at The View Hotel which was perfect for having easy access to stunning views of the three most famous buttes. We got a room with a patio that had the perfect view and was easy to get up early to watch the new day begin.

A bold but peaceful morning with dramatic clouds start the day over Monument Valley during the blue hour just before sunrise. The unmistakable silhouettes of the East Mitten Butte, West Mitten Butte, and Merrick Butte stand as silhouettes against a dawn sky.

Keep in mind, Arizona doesn't do daylight savings time so sunrise is really early! (5am during the summer). I'm used to 6am summer sunrises! But it was worth it. I got up early and started watching as blue hour began to illuminate the sky and clouds drifted over the American Southwest desert landscape.

The beautiful golden sunrise backlights the three famous buttes and some yellow desert flowers at Monument Valley in northeast Navajo County, Arizona, United States during the spring season.

After the sun peaked up through the clouds, a burst of gold rays casted over the rock formations. As the sun rises higher, a slight haze added an atmospheric feeling to the air  highlighting the quiet power and sacred beauty of Navajo Nation land. Below, I filmed a timelapse while I captured photos of the peaceful stillness of early morning. It was a moment where time feels suspended and nature takes center stage.

A golden sun flare during sunrise glows by the East Mitten Butte at Monument Valley in at Navajo Tribal Park in northeast Navajo County, Arizona, United States. There's a morning haze in the air adding a serene atmosphere to this iconic landscape and making the rock formation a silhouette with a sun flare over it. The sun peaks up over some clouds creating some rays. Just beautiful. This is also known as the 7th wonder of Navajoland.

In this blog and throughout the short video, you’ll also see some peaks of photographs by myself, Jennifer White of Timeless Moments Photography, which I captured during this time. They available for purchase. Each image is thoughtfully captured to preserve the emotion, light, and spirit of the American Southwest — perfect for home, office, or collector display.
