Bold Beginnings: Sunrise Timelapse Over Monument Valley’s Iconic Buttes
A beautiful sunrise timelapse video and fine art photos from Monument Valley in Arizona.
Monument Valley was our last stop on our trip through Utah and Arizona. It was our first time there. We stayed at The View Hotel which was perfect for having easy access to stunning views of the three most famous buttes. We got a room with a patio that had the perfect view and was easy to get up early to watch the new day begin.
Keep in mind, Arizona doesn't do daylight savings time so sunrise is really early! (5am during the summer). I'm used to 6am summer sunrises! But it was worth it. I got up early and started watching as blue hour began to illuminate the sky and clouds drifted over the American Southwest desert landscape.
After the sun peaked up through the clouds, a burst of gold rays casted over the rock formations. As the sun rises higher, a slight haze added an atmospheric feeling to the air highlighting the quiet power and sacred beauty of Navajo Nation land. Below, I filmed a timelapse while I captured photos of the peaceful stillness of early morning. It was a moment where time feels suspended and nature takes center stage.
In this blog and throughout the short video, you’ll also see some peaks of photographs by myself, Jennifer White of Timeless Moments Photography, which I captured during this time. They available for purchase. Each image is thoughtfully captured to preserve the emotion, light, and spirit of the American Southwest — perfect for home, office, or collector display.
