Make Time To Slow Down

Jennifer White • December 17, 2018

In today's crazy world, we find ourselves consumed with an endless list of things we have to do, places we have to go, work that has to be done, etc. It's very easy to get wrapped in this busy lifestyle, that we often forget we need to slow down and take some time to rest until we get burnt out or it's too late.

I work long days just about everyday of the week so it's really hard for me to get some relaxing time. But when I do, it's rejuvenating and I feel fresh and ready to go again. This is one of the reasons the Lord says we should save one day for a day of rest. He knows our bodies can't just continue like we all so often try to do.

While running errands with the family a couple weeks ago, I desperately needed a brief break from reality, so I packed my camera and we went to a local park. Yes, it was a terribly hot day, and it was during mid-day, which is the worst possible light for photography, but I haven't had a break in a while and I really needed it. I took the time to slow down for an hour and watched the beauty of nature all around us. As we were getting ready to leave, I watched some delicate feathers fly off of a goose and land in the pond. I almost walked by them, but stopped to watch them so ever gently float on the water surface. It reminded me at how delicate our lives our and how we really just need to take the time to give our bodies rest.

If you can't find a full day, try to find at least an hour or 2 and you'll find yourself able to be more productive and rejuvenated!

What are some things you do to slow down? Feel free to comment.
