Anxiety Relief Tips

Do you struggle with anxiety?

Do you struggle with anxiety ? I know I do occasionally. In fact, it was continues bad anxiety attacks that actually partially inspired me to start a blog. As I start this blog, I also owned and ran 4, yes 4 businesses! (2 full time, 2 part time). One of those full time businesses is full of stress that turns into serious anxiety and panic attacks! With the onset of chest pains with the attacks, I knew it was time for a change! Afterall, I have a daughter who needs her mother! I have to stick around to aggravate her when she's an old lady!

Anxiety can be paralyzing at times!

Here's the definition:

A feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.
  • Synonyms: worry, concern, apprehension, apprehensiveness, uneasiness, unease, fearfulness, fear, disquiet, disquietude, inquietude, perturbation, agitation, angst, misgiving, nervousness, nerves, tension, tenseness, jeebies, butterflies (stomach), jitteriness, jitters, twitchiness
What causes your anxiety?
  • Work / School - Most common cause
  • Relationships / Marriage
  • Financial
  • Trauma / Loss of loved one
  • Medication side effect
Symptoms of anxiety:
  • Shortness Of Breath
  • Chest Pain
  • Nausea
  • Weakness
  • Headaches
  • Tension
  • Increased heart rate or palpitations
  • Lack of sleep
If you suffer from anxiety , you are not alone. With today's stressful world, everyone experiences this. Some worse than others. Here are some things I do when the anxiety attack comes on:
  • Take a walk
  • Take a hot shower
  • Walk away from whatever is stressing you out and take some deep breaths
  • Change your mindset (focus on something positive or be thankful for something)
  • Pray and read inspirational verses from the bible. Here are 10 bible verses for anxiety:
    • 1 Peter 5: 6-8 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

    • Psalm 23:4Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

    • Proverbs 12:25 Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.

    • Psalm 55:22Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.

    • Matthew 11:28-30“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

    • John 14:27Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

    • Colossians 3:15Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.

    • Hebrews 13:5-6Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”

    • Matthew 6:25-34“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can anyone of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you-you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

    • Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

  • Move around or Exercise
  • Love on your pet
  • Love on your kid(s)
  • Call a friend
  • Do something you love
  • Shout out your frustrations
  • Let the tears flow and cleanse your body (don't be afraid to cry)
  • Listen to music (inspirational christian music is always good)
  • Read a book
  • Place a drop or 2 of essential oil into a diffuser (Lavender, rosemary, and orange are good for anxiety)
If you find yourself battling anxiety everyday, you need to determine what is causing it. If it's your job , maybe you need to look into a change of careers. If it's finances, look into different options such as; get a new job, talk to financial advisor, cut out expenses, create a budget, stop worrying about it (cast your fears on the Lord). You may have to seek a counselor, or life coach who can offer professional advice and give you someone to talk to. I recommend doing everything you can holistically or naturally before you seek medications. You want to find the core reason for the anxiety before you attempt to treat the symptoms. Medicine may lead to more problems but may be necessary.

So don't worry, you're not alone in this! You can and you WILL get through this. To help with mine, I could see what was causing my stress and I'm on a mission to make that change. It'll be a tough road, but I'm determined to fight it and beat it!

Feel free to comment about any thoughts or inspirational ideas you have or do to beat the stress.

Be blessed and be strong!
