RIP Mimosa Tree

My Ozarks Misty Golden Morning Sunrise photo is my very first fine art photo.  It's a photo I'm very proud of.  I sent it to Tony Northup a few years ago for a review to see if I had what it would take to be a professional photographer.  I was ready for any feedback, negative or positive.  It got great reviews from him and he had nothing negative to say about it. 

Then a few years later, this photo was internationally published in a women's art magazine based out of Germany, Art 278. I was so proud and excited to see it in print when I got the magazine featuring various female artists. I had 2 photos included.  It's also one of my biggest sellers locally.

It sits in our back yard and for the past couple of years, it's become cracked where the large 3 main branches split. It was blooming later and later each year. I have been giving it some tree food to keep it alive as long as I could.

On Thursday, June 4, 2020 we were awakened around 5:20 am by a bad storm. The pressure and popping in the home and wind draft blowing through the home made it feel like an F0 tornado. We had steady winds over 60 mph! It was still dark but could see the silhouette of some damaged trees on our almost 7 acres. Once it got daylight not too long after, I got out to inspect our home. Praise the Lord no damage to home but 3 of our trees were badly damaged including the mimosa tree.

I'm not even sure how it's still standing!! It's one tough tree!! It's split most of the way down on both sides. It's also rotting almost all the way down too.  I don't think it can be saved but I'm going to try.  I've reached out to a couple places to see what they think.  If they think we can possibly save it, I'll update this blog and let you know.

You may think I'm crazy being sad over a tree, but I have a lot of emotion attached to it and our back yard won't be the same without it. I'm glad I have a few photos to remember it by. Below are some candid photos of the damage.
